Longhorn Youth Lacrosse offers Girls programs for both beginner as well as experienced players who are districted for Lambert High School, South Forsyth High School, Denmark, and private schools in Forsyth County. Our combined districted teams play under the name FOCO Storm. Our House (Rec) league provides girls the opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse while playing at an introductory to intermediate level of play. Our Select programs are designed for girls who want to participate in more competitive play, and are working toward a mastery level of skill in game of lacrosse.
Levels of Play
U9: Our U9 program includes kindergarten through third grade girls. The girls program in the fall focuses on beginner and intermediate level of play. This forms a solid foundation of skills that allows them the opportunity to discover the game of lacrosse and have fun through the learning process. Our program includes two practices per week and games on Saturday/Sunday.
U11: Our U11 program is designed to enhance the skills of beginner and intermediate level players in fourth and fifth grade. Our fall program allows players to focus on core skills utilizing two practices per week, as well as games on Saturday/Sunday. Our spring program follows the same format, with continued focus on core skills, but also emphasizes team concepts and play. Girls at the U11 level play 7 v 7 modified field rules, which allows for more effective player development.
U13 Rec: Our U13 House (Rec) league team allows girls to continue their play and love for the game, but in a less competitive and time-intensive manor. Both fall and spring commitments include two practices per week and weekend games. Much like our U11 program, the fall is focused on core skills and learning, while the spring program focuses on skills, plus team concepts. Girls at the U13 level and above play full field lacrosse, 11 v 11.
U13 Select (spring only): The U13 Select Girls Program is competitive-level lacrosse, with a focus on skills mastery and team play. Evaluations are conducted for interested girls; if selected, then they are required to practice two times per week and play up to two games per weekend. For girls in this program we do request that other conflicts be kept to a minimum given that we have limited space on the team. Girls in this program must commit the necessary time to achieve the program goals.
U15 Rec: Our U15 House (Rec) league team allows girls to continue their play and love for the game, but a less competitive and time-intensive manor. Both fall and spring commitments include two practices a week and weekend games. Much like our U11 & U13 programs, the fall is focused on core skills and learning, while the spring program focuses on skills, plus team concepts.
U15 Select (spring only): The U15 Select Girls Program is competitive-level lacrosse, with a focus on skills mastery, and team play. Evaluations are conducted for interested girls; if selected, then they are required to practice three times per week and play up to two games per weekend. For girls in this program we do request that other conflicts be kept to a minimum given that we have limited space on the team. Girls in this program must commit the necessary time to achieve the program goals.
